The publication introduces the reflection of the events of 1968 and their aftermath at the University of Economics in Prague (VŠE). The main focus is on the school's response to the reform period, specifically the January renewal process, how its staff engaged in the reform process, and the immediate impact of the August events on VŠE, all against the backdrop of a summary of the broader context of political and social development in Czechoslovakia during the reform period of the 1960s and in 1968. The monograph is the work of authors who have long been involved in researching the development of higher education in economics in our country as part of a broader research team. The core of this team operates at the Department of Economic Sciences of the Faculty of Economics at VŠE. The publication was prepared not only based on the study of primary sources from the VŠE Archives and the National Archive in Prague but also on valuable sources obtained from witnesses, active students of VŠE in 1968.
