A new full-color edition of a unique publication that was first released in 1997 as the very first comprehensive publication on viticulture and winemaking in the Czech Republic. The new encyclopedia brings completely new insights supplemented by numerous photographs and illustrations. In the first volume, wine lovers and the more specialized public will certainly appreciate the clear information about all grape varieties grown in our country and the description of the typical characteristics of individual varietal wines. The overview also includes the most recently recognized varieties that were approved for cultivation in the Czech Republic at the end of 2004. The book further addresses important factors such as soil, climate, technology, and the personality of the winemaker, which influence the final quality of the wine. In addition to grape cultivation, the book discusses the classification of wines in accordance with the new wine law. It also introduces new wine regions and subregions according to the new wine law for the first time. In the individual subregions, you will get to know both small and larger winemakers.
