"The Island of Dr. Moreau" also transcends the adventure novel genre. It deals with scientific experiments that attempt to change the eternal order of nature. Both of these novels, which perhaps only today gain true relevance, stand at the birth of the science fiction genre. The book, accompanied by illustrations by Mikuláš Rachlík, is published to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the author's birth and the 70th anniversary of his death.
