Beschreibung
Arnošt Caha's book was first published in 1927 under the title In the Prehistoric World. Two boys, Jirka and Jarda, embark on an adventure with their father, a well-known archaeologist, to one of the caves of Macocha. Their father has already conducted archaeological research here, and he takes both of his sons on a journey filled with adventure. However, neither of them realizes the true surprises that await them, including a fight for their own survival. They begin their journey in a vast underground cavity, where they discover the skeleton of a Stone Age hunter. They even manage to excavate the entrance to another unknown cave, and here begins their fantastic, educational, yet dangerous journey, which was partially described in the unforgettable film adaptation by director Karel Zeman: Journey to the Prehistoric World. The book was likely not only an inspiration for him but also a source material. The book In the Prehistoric World reaches our readers after more than eighty years, but it loses none of its charm and undoubtedly belongs to the Czech literary heritage. The original illustrations by Brno artist Eduard Milén must not be overlooked.
