The heroine of the novel has her life firmly in her hands - she has no other hands available. She must care for her sick husband, raise her teenage daughter, help her two adult sons, listen to her foolish mother, and above all, bake strudel, as it has been the main and only source of livelihood for her family for almost twenty years. And one day, that well-functioning machine gets stuck; people and things stop doing what they should and start doing what they absolutely should not. The husband stops speaking, the mother wants to get married, the son does not want to, but is apparently going to get divorced, and a camel from a South Bohemian company even starts to bite... A sadly humorous novel for women who want to better understand their men, and for men who want to better understand their women.
