The core of the book is the novella Strange Days by Hana Pražáková (1930 - 2010). Hana Pražáková was known as an author of children's and girls' books, and after 2000, she gained attention with her memoir prose from the 1950s, We Live Here in Hope (in which she describes the imprisonment of her father, writer František Křelina, and the life of his family in so-called freedom). Strange Days was written back in 1992 and has not been published until now, partly because it was too short for a standalone book. The book's editor, Markéta Hejkalová (Hana Pražáková's daughter), therefore approached several other female writers, whose works also feature women as main characters and where hope is an important theme. The result is this book, which contains, in addition to the titular novella, stories by Etela Farkašová, Věra Nosková, Markéta Hejkalová, and Eva Tvrdá.
