Almanach českých šlechtických rodů 2024 – group of authors (2023)

You have in your hands the latest edition of the almanac of Czech nobility. Over the past few years, I have personally met many representatives of the families whose names are mentioned in this book while filming the documentary series Blue Blood. During the filming of the series, which presents Czech historical nobility and its descendants, I had the opportunity to visit the residences of my more or less distant relatives and friends. We talked about the present and reminisced about the past. On those occasions, we often took previous editions of the almanacs in hand to refresh our memories and confirm our mutual relationships and family ties. ***** Noble titles were abolished by law in 1918, and after the amendment in 1920, sanctions were even introduced for their use. Certain social contacts were interrupted over time due to the influence of the past political regime for four decades. Two generations of descendants lost part of their awareness of family ties and genealogy. This updated version of the almanac can help remedy their knowledge of family connections. Therefore, I perceive this publication not only as a pure historical depiction of the families but also as a guide through personal and familial relationships. *****
