Venku prší – Trojan Bohuslav (2018)

Viktor Franc faces the problem of how to start anew after the death of his wife and how to find a life partner. He questions whether it is possible to begin again without forgetting everything one has experienced before. It is a search for balance and, with it, a search for what is important in life. In the sprawling narrative, close to the main character is Šárka, a loving type of woman. After her bitter life disappointment, she mainly seeks love in a relationship, along with security. Then there is Olga, an active businesswoman. She divorced her cheating husband and is looking for a man who fits her entrepreneurial vision. The third type of woman is Hanička, a woman with unfulfilled ambitions, tested by two marriages, a woman who says she wants to be her own self. And she is succeeding at it. The fourth type is Lidunka, a full-time wife, a family-oriented type, a reliable and hardworking woman. Viktor Franc ultimately understands that even in late mature love, the heart is decisive, as the heart always knows and has the upper hand over reason, which is confused. The novel loosely follows the previous one, We Are Each Elsewhere.
