Kyiv, 1942. Larisa is a seamstress, renowned for her embroidery. During World War II, she struggles to survive in occupied Ukraine, working as a tailor amidst the ruins of her workshop. Surrounded by enemies, she expresses defiance by decorating her products with embroidery in national colors. But at what cost? Mikhail is a soldier returning home to Ukraine from the front on Christmas Eve. On his journey through his country, he is forced to confront the suffering that the war has brought to his fellow countrymen. How much will his fate change by what he sees this Christmas? One early morning, Maruša and her family are awakened by the arrival of Nazis searching for her brother, who is a partisan. As the soldiers search the house, the family members have only a few moments to make decisions that will determine whether they survive this visit.
