At the end of her junior year in high school, Sharlot Citra invites her boyfriend Bradley over to finally experience her first time. However, the situation does not go as the young couple had planned. They are caught in a compromising situation by Sharlot's mother. Sharlot must leave Los Angeles and fly to her mother's native Indonesia, where she is to connect with her roots and rid herself of 'American moral looseness.' That's exactly what she needs – or at least what her mother thinks she needs. At an inopportune moment, young Indonesian George Clooney Tanuwijaya (his parents were obsessed with celebrities) is also caught, and his father decides to take matters into his own hands. To ensure that their offspring find the right partner, Sharlot's mother and George's father do what any good parent would do – they connect on social media and pose as their children. When Sharlot and George find out, they are disgusted, but family pressure forces them to go on a 'definitely not a date.'
