The authors of the podcast Rewrite History are coming out with a sequel after the success of their first book. History has been rewritten since time immemorial and continues to be. Why are our prime ministers still somewhat overshadowed by the Castle? How do our presidents leave office? And who actually rules at the Castle and what kind of people have served the Czech state here? Did Masaryk also rewrite history? And how did Dubček leave his mark? Do we appreciate our generals, or do we not value them enough, and why did echoes of the Spanish Civil War return in 2022? The relationship between Czechs and Germans will also be discussed, from Havlíček to Havel, that is, from the Spring of Nations in 1848 to the Czech-German declaration. What influences our current experience of politics – the elections of 1946, the People's Militias, Anticharta, normalization? And are we mythologizing November 17, 1989 too much? The authors will also look at how politics intertwined with sports and pop culture in the past and what we still have hidden in television fairy tales today. In the year of the war in Ukraine, the topic of Russia and its relationship with both close and distant neighbors cannot be overlooked. The phenomenon of the nineties and the year 1942 will also be recalled, which we may have been reducing in the public space to stories about the assassination of Heydrich and the seven brave ones in recent years.
