Aquila Danté, a battle mage, and his dragon have fought the Possessed for years, successfully holding back the legions of Hell alongside human armies. When a battle mage suddenly disappears and Aquila searches for him, he encounters a new and more terrifying demon known as Caim, the Soul Reaper. As Aquila battles Caim, his son is born, but fate is cruel, and he must fight not only the hordes of Hell, but also tragedy, grief and the endless intrigues of the mages. Meanwhile, the scales of his beloved dragon Calon Tân are gradually growing darker, and it is clear that the dragon will soon turn black. As everyone knows, black dragons are enemies of humanity, and black dragons are insane. Captain Mathilda Steinhardtová also leads the war against the Possessed, bravely facing overwhelming numbers of Possessed, beasts and demons. The missing battle mage writhes in torment in Caim’s captivity, while a mage apprentice descends into darkness to seek answers from a mysterious being known as the Sinner. Heroes fall and new ones rise. This fantasy novel is a prequel to Peter A. Flannery’s Battle Mage. Although its story takes place before the events of that book, it is strongly recommended to read Battle Mage first and then turn to Aquila. The contents are in Czech.
