Beschreibung
No other time of the year is so burdened with expectations and stereotypical ideas as the Advent and Christmas season. We hear that we should quiet ourselves, realize what matters, and be close to others as well as to ourselves. At the same time, the world continues to suffer from wars, poverty, and the climate crisis. We are troubled by guilt that we are doing better, and we fall into despair that we cannot do much about it. In our personal lives, the urgency of this season often further exposes what we have failed at. The Christian message does not deny any of this: it is based on the fragility of humanity, the world, and nature, but prioritizes goodness and trust. The child, which is a symbol of this time even in the Christian world, represents a new beginning. The relationship to oneself, to others, and to the world is not primarily a demanding task but a gifted opportunity.
