Řád života aneb 50 let psychoterapeutem – Poněšický Jan (2025)

Is there a universal order of life and human coexistence, the result of which is a healthy, content, or even happy life, and whose disregard always has certain repercussions, such as illness? This topic is addressed by Doc. Jan Poněšický, drawing from books that have inspired him as well as from his fifty years of experience as a psychotherapist. He asks whether it is possible to derive the fundamental principles of a good life from human nature, from our needs and desires, fears, and anxieties. He explores the problem of human freedom and its transformation into unbounded caprice, which is necessary but should not be restrictive; rather, it should provide the necessary peace and certainty for personal development and constructive conflict resolution. Finally, he dares to outline a modification of the biblical Ten Commandments that corresponds to today's world. In the second part of the book, the author presents his engaged yet critical view of psychosomatics and psychotherapy and its development, overlooking the spiritual dimension of humanity, as well as the insufficient emphasis on love and the value orientation of patients.
