Is it possible to live a quality life even though childhood was almost a uniform horror and we were shaped by a family that presented serious pathology as normal? The life motif of early childhood abuse experienced by Zuzka, whose story was brought to life in The Spider Game (Triton, 2014), returns in her adulthood: she is abused and raped, hiding from her attacker with the help of support organizations, ending up in a psychiatric ward and later in a therapeutic community, which is a significant milestone on her path to healing. Despite ongoing self-harming behavior, she diligently works on self-development, attends therapy, gradually stabilizes, and does not lose her optimism or hope for a peaceful, happy life with her four children.
