Mickey7 is a disposable member of the human crew sent to colonize the icy world of Niflheim. Whenever a mission is too dangerous, they send Mickey. When he dies, a new body is simply made, into which most of Mickey's old memories are uploaded. After six resurrections, Mickey7 knows how things work... and he also understands why, at the time he decided to join the expedition, this single position was the only one available. When he goes missing during a routine exploratory mission, he is presumed dead. And before he can return to base, Mickey8 is already on duty. The simultaneous existence of duplicate human beings is forbidden, and if the others find out, they will have both recycled. So Mickey7 must keep the existence of his doppelgänger a secret from the rest of the colony. Life on Niflheim, however, is no picnic. The atmosphere is unbreathable for humans, food is scarce, terraforming is progressing slowly, and Commander Marshall is quite nervous about it. Ultimately, survival depends on Mickey. That is, if he doesn't die for good.
