When Usagi seeks out his long-lost teacher, he learns that the sacred peaks of the local mountains are facing an invasion of wild and relentless creatures from the realm of myths. The long-eared ronin will have to stand on the side of yokai (supernatural beings) for the first time in his life in a story titled 'The War of the Tengu!' He then receives a task in the story 'The Master of Hebishima' to deliver a basket with a very unusual content to a rather peculiar hermit. Although Usagi is not aware of it at first, their connection runs deep into the past, to the battle on the Adachi plain. In the final tale titled 'Yukichi,' Usagi meets a young samurai who has set out to fulfill the last wish of his deceased master. However, his journey leads him into very dangerous territory...
