We will increasingly need forests as a source of raw materials, for environmental maintenance, and for our own health. It is essential to understand them and know how they can influence the local environment, weather, and climate. The forests of Central Bohemia are also a unique collection of natural habitats, where on a small area we can find submontane spruce forests of the Central Brdy, bare and flowering beech forests of Voděradsko, pine forests on sandstone and shifting sands, thermophilic oak forests, and debris forests of Křivoklátsko and Český kras, as well as remnants of floodplain forests along the Elbe and many streams and brooks. The wealth of scattered greenery and the number of exotic tree species cultivated in gardens and urban and castle parks are also immense.
