Beschreibung
With their colorful flowers, plants bring color to the otherwise monotonous greens and browns of the plant world. Their colorful splendor is actually meant to attract only insects, which are then rewarded with nectar while also taking care of pollination, but they also bring joy to us. Flowers are generally small, at least compared to mature trees or bushy shrubs, and they mostly have green and soft stems, unlike the brown trunks of trees and woody shrubs. Some trees and shrubs, like the domestic apple (Malus domestica) or the wild rose (Rosa canina), also bloom beautifully, but we have not included them in this guide. Similarly, tiny green grasses and sedges do not have strikingly colorful flowers, as pollination is taken care of by the wind. Therefore, this book will focus on flowers, not trees, shrubs, or grasses. It presents a small but representative selection of 100 common and widespread species, allowing you to get to know this diverse group of plants more closely.
