Beschreibung
The tenth volume of the Correspondence of Jakub Deml This letter should be burned immediately after reading! contains letters to Václav Maršík (1914 to 2011) from the years 1950 to 1960. Maršík did not move in artistic circles; he met Deml in 1950 during a visit to Tasov. Although the poet was in a new situation at that time, marked by general unfreedom and distrust, he immediately established a warm relationship with Maršík, which was primarily a relationship between a priest and a searching believer. His new friend, a savings bank employee and mountain lover, also played an important role as Deml's supporter and custodian of his work. The correspondence collection concludes with the only known letter from Maršík to Deml from 1960; the other letters have not survived. The poet likely dealt with them in the way he once advised Maršík: 'This letter should be burned immediately after reading!' The book also contains descriptions of dedications from Jakub Deml to Václav Maršík, photographs from the first trip to Tasov in 1950, and Maršík's Memories of P. Jakub Deml (1997). The edition is supplemented by commentary, extensive notes, an index of names, an editorial note, a list of correspondence, and reproductions of manuscripts and typescripts.
