Abe Sapien is trying to cope with the accusation that he is the cause of the end of the human race. Therefore, he travels to the Gulf Coast of Mexico, where monsters first began to appear and where a volcanic eruption leveled the entire city of Houston. Together with a group of worshippers of the Mexican goddess of death, he finds a little oasis of calm in a South Texas town that has miraculously been spared most of the current horrors. However, appearances can be deceiving, and it may be here that Abe loses even the little that he has left.
