Yoga nidra is a yogic technique of deep relaxation. The word 'nidra' comes from Sanskrit and translates to 'sleep'. This intentionally induced sleep serves for intense relaxation and brings the body, mind, and soul into a state of alert calmness and regeneration.
Yoga nidra consists of four different phases that are practiced lying down: body scanning, cleansing breathing exercises, breathing exercises to activate energy centers, and finally, peaceful resting in the heart center.
