AERO 134 Jakovlev Jak-11/Let C-11 v čs. letectvu (2026)

This Czech-language volume details the production and service of the Yakovlev Yak-11 trainer and its Czechoslovak licensed counterpart, the Let C-11, in the Czechoslovak Air Force. In the second half of the 1950s, the aircraft formed a significant part of the equipment used by training units, but it had earlier also served with combat regiments. After the war, the rebuilding of the Czechoslovak Air Force placed particular emphasis on training sufficient personnel, especially pilots. Pilot training was organised in three stages: elementary, advanced and combat training. Elementary training covered the fundamentals of aircraft handling, including taxiing, take-off, landing, climbs and descents, stalls, turns, spins, instrument and night flying, combat manoeuvres, navigation and formation flying. Advanced training used a heavier and more powerful aircraft with characteristics closer to those of a combat aircraft, preparing students for the transition to combat types and adding practice in shooting and bombing. The Yak-11 was intended to replace the captured Arado Ar 96C-2 in this role. A prototype aircraft arrived in Kunovice in August 1952, followed by airframe production documentation in November and documentation for the AŠ-21 engine in January 1953. The book describes the aircraft’s manufacture and service in detail.
