The MiG-15 marked the true beginning of the jet age in the Czechoslovak military air force in the early 1950s, moving Czechoslovak fighter aviation into the world’s leading ranks in terms of fighter-regiment equipment. Miroslav Irra previously described the production and service of this aircraft and its versions in the Czechoslovak air force in earlier issues of Aero. The rapid expansion of Czechoslovak fighter aviation also required the construction of training air bases and an aircraft with the same characteristics as the MiG-15 to improve the speed and quality of pilot training. Between 1951 and 1954, at least 14 UTI MiG-15 two-seat trainers supplied by the Soviet Union were gradually introduced into jet pilot training. In 1954, deliveries of Czechoslovak-licensed UTI MiG-15/CS-102 aircraft began: 34 were delivered that year, and by 1960 the air force had received 155.
