After the war, the Czechoslovak Air Force recorded three products from the Heinkel company – He 72, He 111, and He 219, with only a few units of the He 111 and He 219, while the number of He 72 exceeded ten. All of our He 72s were owned by the Czechoslovak military administration but were loaned to aeroclubs. The aeroclubs primarily used them for towing gliders, earning recognition and considerable popularity in this role. The Czechoslovak military administration had no interest in the He 111 aircraft in the early post-war years. However, the initiative to utilize them came from the VLÚ Letňany. This institution dealt with dozens of research, testing, and production tasks after the war, including tests of the "rocket remote-controlled aerial torpedo," namely the guided aircraft missile Henschel Hs 293A, tests of trophy jet engines BMW 003 and Jumo 004, tests of bombing equipment, and test bombings, including tests of the guided bomb PC 1400Fx Fritz X. To do this, a suitable aircraft was necessary. Two aircraft were acquired from Bulgaria, and a third aircraft, originating from war spoils, was taken over by the military administration after a revision at the Rudý Letov factory on April 26-28, 1950.
