The German aircraft designer Ernst Heinkel (January 24, 1888 – January 30, 1958) became one of the symbols of the German Luftwaffe. The author, German historian Dr. Volker Koos, has been collecting photographs, studying historical documents, and capturing the memories of Heinkel's collaborators for decades. His work documents Ernst Heinkel's design activities from World War I until 1958. The first volume captures the first 10 years of his company's operations and chronologically documents all types produced for the Swedish Air Force, the USA, Japan, and the USSR, and of course for the secretly built future Luftwaffe.
