The decision to launch serial production of the Douglas type in the USSR crystallized in the spring of 1936. On April 11, 1936, the Council of Labor and Defense (STO) issued a resolution to purchase a license for the production of the DC-3, and a technical commission headed by the chief of CAGI set off to the USA for this purpose. The final contract with Douglas was signed by the Soviets through Amtorg on July 15, 1936. The publication focuses on the introduction of DC-3/Li-2 production in the USSR, including the manufactured versions, such as the bomber variant. It covers the course of service and deployment during World War II and post-war service, including exports. It features a wealth of period photographs and color side views.
