So they decide to set off with their dog Montmorency to the river. Thus begins the immortal book Three Men in a Boat, which we can without exaggeration call the foundation of modern British humor. It has been adapted into many films and television shows, and the Guardian has included it among the fifty most significant literary works of all time.
