When Philippe was little, his mother repeated to him not to make things up. However, he made a career out of stories and is now an experienced writer. One day in a hotel in Bordeaux, he encounters a young man who strikingly resembles his first love, Thomas. This prompts Philippe to reflect on the relationship he has never forgotten and to tell the story for the first time without a single fabrication.
Both were seventeen in 1984 and attended their final year of high school in Barbezieux. They couldn't show how well they knew each other, but they stole every moment they could to be together. Their fateful love lasted six months before they had to part forever.
The novel, with autobiographical elements, tells of coming of age and fascinates with its unpretentiousness. This, along with its polished literary style, contributes to the impact of this powerful love story. A film titled "Shared Lies" was also made based on the book in 2022.
