A testimony to how the dystopia we know from films and books is becoming a reality. Venezuela, once the richest country in Latin America with vast oil reserves, is now a shattered nation ruled by hunger, violence, and chaos. Civilization has completely collapsed here. Electricity doesn't work, there is a shortage of drinking water and gasoline, money has lost its value, and transactions are made with gold. The government has merged with criminals, the army with cartels, and those who haven't fled across the border become slaves in gold mines, as at least they get regular meals there. Slovak journalist Tomáš Forró repeatedly returned to Venezuela, most recently likely as the only foreign journalist at a time when non-profit organizations had already withdrawn from this dangerous country and adventurers had stopped visiting it. This resulted in a unique report on the collapse of society and the state.
