Beschreibung
The ultramarathon through the Sierra Nevada valley starts before sunrise, and the fastest runners reach the finish line as the sun sets. The 2010 edition had three favorites, and for about the first eighty miles, it was unclear who would win. The Boston Marathon in 1982 was a battle between a clear favorite and a farm boy. It is said that the outsider would have won if it weren't for the accompanying police motorcycle in the last turn. These and other chapters from the history of running are brought to life in an elaborate comic book that combines a sense of curiosity with irony. Here, you'll find small yet significant running events and short comics about long races. They will also take us to 1950s Oxford, 1980s California, or the forests in the middle of Tennessee, near the prison from which the murderer of Martin Luther King escaped. We will often deviate from the comic documentary based on historical photographs, period television footage, or literature, to explore the running feats of presidential candidates or hobbits in The Lord of the Rings.
