Beschreibung
There are writers who are allowed to publish officially only exceptionally and whose person and work are often subjected to silence, that is, authors "who are deviant, unclassifiable, inconvenient, difficult, and undesirable in every regime simply because they want to be themselves." Among them is the author of the poems in this book, Igor Slouka, also known as Rogi Akuols, praised by František Hrubín, Jaroslav Seifert, and Vilém Závada. He published his poems from 1963 to 2012, many of which were also released as bibliophilies, some of which are world-class in every respect. The poetry collection "To the Phoenix" summarizes his entire lifelong work. From love poems ("Songs of Lovers"), poems from his time in an alcohol rehabilitation center (Drunkard's Ballad), to poetry inspired by the natural motifs of the Czech Republic and Slovakia, culminating in the peaks of his work (the poems "Orsej" and "To the Phoenix"). His love poem composition Orsej has earned the title of Czech Song of Songs among readers.
