Munich, 1966: Sofia longs for true love. Every Friday at the Bella Italia ice cream parlor, she dreams of a journey south: to Venice, her desired city. However, the solitary Lorenzo, the owner of the ice cream parlor, knows that life in Italy can also be difficult and full of hardships. For generations, his family has lived in Val di Zoldo, a valley of traditional ice cream makers. When Lorenzo's grandparents struggled in the valley, they decided to try introducing their icy treat in faraway Vienna. The ice cream from the Battaglias gradually gains popularity, with new flavors being added. But the paths of fate are unpredictable. And so, Sofia gradually learns from Lorenzo what happened to his family and why he ultimately turned his back on his homeland…
