Emma dreams of a life in a beautiful country house full of children with a wonderful man by her side. However, after her husband's accident, she begins to fall into despair. In desperation, she attends a support group for the grieving, hoping to find comfort among similarly afflicted people.
Reality exceeds her wildest fantasies. Among the mourners, she finds not only a best friend but also Sam, her soulmate. Their relationship quickly heats up, and when Emma unexpectedly becomes pregnant, she finds herself caught in a whirlwind of events. They plan a fairy-tale future, moving to the countryside, building a new house, and looking forward to the baby. Emma's perfect happiness is only marred by strange occurrences that haunt her. One time it's a wallet tucked away in the back of the oven, another time it's a candle that catches the curtain on the window. Is it due to Emma's pregnancy-induced absent-mindedness, or is there a huge danger threatening her and her child? And where does Sam disappear to every Thursday, and what does he do until his return on Sunday? Is he really buried in work and projects… or is there another woman involved?
Emma no longer knows what, and especially whom, to trust. What if she has gone crazy? Or is her intuition warning her that not everything in her life is as it seems?
