FBI Special Agent Laurel Snow imagined the pre-Christmas season quite differently, but when traces of a serial killer's rampage are found in the mountains near her hometown in Washington State, she decides to head to the crime scene and start investigating. This quirky young woman, with an exceptional memory, left home as a child prodigy to attend university at the age of eleven, tries to get into the mindset of the perpetrator hiding among the orderly citizens of the mountain town, using her knowledge of psychology. Her investigation is complicated not only by the harsh winter weather but also by the shadows of her own past and the uncontrollable attraction she feels for Huck Rivers, a former soldier and ranger who has become her reluctant partner in the investigation.
