Beschreibung
Young archaeologist Agnes Martí moved from her native Barcelona to London in hopes of finding a job at one of the British archaeological museums. However, after several months of unsuccessful searching, as she prepares to return home disappointed, she wanders into the cozy bookstore Moonlight Books during a melancholic stroll through the Temple district. The grumpy owner, Edward Livingston, immediately takes a liking to the bright girl and hires her as his assistant. Although Agnes does not give up on her archaeological dream, she soon falls under the spell of the shop and its regular visitors, such as the overly wise boy Oliver Twist, the eager reader Mrs. Dresden, the silent writer working under a light blue lamp, and Edward's charming girlfriend, publisher Sioban, and discovers that Edward is not as much of a misanthrope as he pretends to be. However, the peaceful everyday life of the bookstore is disrupted by a theft – a precious diary belonging to Edward's ancestor suddenly goes missing, and Agnes fears that suspicion will fall on her. And when the handsome inspector John Lockwood takes over the investigation, the archaeologist loses her last remnants of peace.
