It is a few years after the war, and Šumava resembles the Wild West, a no man's land, an Eldorado of adventurers, secret agents, smugglers, and traffickers. An uneasy area of the police and border guards trying to establish the rules of the new regime. It attracts dramatic fates like a magnet. But one of them stands out. Josef Hasil initially helps guard the borders in the uniform of the National Security Corps, only to become, after February 1948, his most feared opponent, later referred to by the StB agents as the King of Šumava.
