Beschreibung
When Berenger sought refuge years ago in a remote Benedictine monastery in the mountains, he was primarily looking for shelter from persecution for himself and his brother Romuald. In the small monastic community at the very edge of the Christian world, however, he also found a new home where he could dedicate himself to studying books and forget the painful past that had left scars on his body and soul. But on Easter in the year 1322, old wounds begin to painfully resurface. A hermit, who was once a monk himself, is murdered in close proximity to the monastery, and soon the angel of death sets out for the seemingly safe walls of Berenger's new home. A murderer prowls the monastery, and Berenger has increasing reason to believe that his life is also in danger. The historical detective novel "The Confession of the Last Monk" takes readers to the troubled beginnings of the 14th century, when medieval Europe was plagued by famine, civil wars, and religious disputes.
