The seventh part of the textbook (WE ARE IMPROVING IN COUNTING TO ONE HUNDRED) focuses primarily on thorough practice of addition and subtraction within the range of 0–100. The material covered also includes arithmetic operations with and without parentheses, simple examples of multiplication and division beyond the scope of basic multiplication, rounding to the nearest tens, simple conversions of time units (hour, day, week, month, year), and an initial introduction to fractions. All arithmetic operations for addition and subtraction are derived and mastered from the very beginning not only as operations 'next to each other' (mental addition and subtraction) but also 'under each other' (written addition and subtraction). The seventh part of Matýsek's mathematics is planned as the first part in the third grade. However, it may happen that the previous 6th part of mathematics is not fully covered in the 2nd grade (the 6th part of Matýsek's mathematics covers multiplication and division in the full numerical range). Even in this case, we recommend starting the teaching in the 3rd grade with this seventh part of Matýsek's mathematics – an introductory review. At the moment the teacher reaches the part in the introductory review that was not covered in the 2nd grade, they will complete the material from the sixth part of the textbook.
