The terrorist organization Black Spiral plans to infect the entire Maelstrom with a deadly virus. Nothing can stop them – except perhaps Lieutenant Jenkins and her Jackals. Upon returning to Alliance territory, armed with new weapons, new gear, and new bodies, the Dings receive a secret mission: to find and contact the mysterious Aeons, potential allies in the escalating conflict and a force that could change the course of the war in favor of the Alliance. However, the Alliance is not the only one interested in the Aeons; many parties are involved in this war. Jenkins will have to trust her team, the alien Defector, and her instincts, as she faces the most dangerous mission of her career – a mission that will ultimately decide the fate not only of the Alliance but of the entire galaxy.
