The alien ship attacking Earth has been destroyed, but since Mars is still under the control of the Long Ones, the remnants of Earth's armed forces are fully focused on replenishing the fleet and defending the planet instead of celebrating. Corporal Andrew Grayson contributes to the general effort as an instructor, intensively training new soldiers for service. However, for the battle-hardened sergeant, this is starting to become a boring routine... The North American community and their new Sino-Russian allies are all too aware that Earth has only gained a brief reprieve, and they see only two options for moving forward. Either they attack the Long Ones on Mars immediately, or they pursue the deserters and their fleet of modern ships, which could turn the tide in the upcoming battle for Mars. A small reconnaissance unit from special operations sets out in pursuit of the deserters, and Grayson finds himself once again in the midst of a battle on a distant moon that will determine the future of humanity.
