This Czech-language fantasy novel follows Kryštof Farský, a brilliant child among the Makers, after one of his worlds is sold in exchange for freeing a powerful villain from a deadly curse. Legions of the Dark pour through the gate, and a great and bloody harvest of sinners can begin. Kryštof decides to risk everything and reaches for a weapon of unprecedented power, though it has one serious flaw: it drove its inventor first insane and then to his death. Will Kryštof have better luck? Meanwhile, the Makers’ constructs are dying in great numbers. Constructs or people? Who knows the key to the worlds? The story offers a glimpse into the secrets of parallel realities and the lost manuscript of Tycho Brahe. In the Makers’ world, there is no place for cowards, but there is plenty of room for unscrupulous fighters, mutants and depraved rulers.
