It's a beautiful day in Newport, Rhode Island, and Phoebe Stone arrives at the magnificent Cornwall Inn in green dress and golden heels, without a single handbag and completely alone. Guests in the lobby mistake her for one of the wedding guests, but she is actually the only guest at Cornwall who is not here for this big event. Phoebe is here because she has dreamed of this place for years – hoping to collect oysters and sail on a boat at sunset with her husband. But now she is here without him. Meanwhile, the bride has thought through every detail and every possible disaster that the weekend could bring – except for Phoebe. She is all the more surprised when the women can't stop confiding in each other, and in the end, Phoebe may unexpectedly redirect her somewhere completely different.
