The love story of an adult Canadian woman and a young soldier uncovers pressing questions about identity against the backdrop of the unexpected invasion of the Israeli army into Gaza. Allison, who arrives in Israel to study, falls in love with the country, the exotic language, and Eyal, a nineteen-year-old boy in the military. However, their passionate romance is interrupted by the invasion and events that unexpectedly and rawly reveal how far each lover is willing to go to protect their loved ones or themselves. The peaceful life in coastal Tel Aviv is pierced by the sounds of sirens, residents of Israeli cities hide in bomb shelters, while their Arab neighbors recall the horrors of the war in 1948, when they lost their homes. Allison visits an Arab town, a Jewish settlement in the West Bank, and attends lectures on the Talmud, and she must decide for herself where she belongs. However, her decision will come at a cost.
