And it is she who mysteriously disappears during the journey on overcrowded trains – a fact that only comes to light in the mountains. Concerned, Ota sets out to follow her trail. ***** During a frosty pre-New Year's trek through the snowdrifts, among hikers, pub regulars, and a much more suspicious crowd, Ota gradually realizes that Marie, now a model lathe operator, has been haunted by the troubled past of a girl from a reform school. ***** Who is the tall guy in a padded jacket with a Spanish hat on his head that he spotted at the station?
