Something strange is happening with the Ashburn house. The ancient building has been shrouded in mystery for decades. Its owner, Edith, never allowed any outsiders inside and rarely appeared in public. After her death, the house is inherited by Adrienne, Edith's only living relative, whose only possessions are a suitcase, twenty dollars in her pocket, and a cat. She sees the inheritance as a life opportunity to get back on her feet. Adrienne does not believe in ghosts, but as she explores the mysterious corners of the house, unease grows within her. She finds strange messages etched into the wallpaper, an old grave in the woods behind the house, and mysterious portraits on the walls of the upstairs hallway that seem to follow her every move.
