The final installment of the trilogy featuring investigator Fredrik Beier. The body of Henry Falck, the author of a report revealing a conspiracy at the highest levels of politics, is found in a car wash in Oslo. A controversial document catches the attention of a television reporter, who disappears shortly after Falck's murder. In the investigation led by Lieutenant Fredrik Beier and his colleague Kafa Ikbálová, the name of Fredrik's deceased father also comes up. The case is more connected to him than initially thought, and Fredrik is about to uncover the greatest mystery of his life. However, his colleague Kafa Ikbálová has her own secrets, and the investigation is further complicated by a traitor within the police ranks. Fredrik no longer knows whom he can trust. He is willing to sacrifice anything to uncover the truth, but his opponent is determined to stop him at all costs.
