Beschreibung
How much can a poem bear? Not in the sense of 'how much', but rather 'how little'. This is the temptation that Vít Slíva grapples with. And it is a temptation that every initiate of Poetry encounters at some point, with Slíva having paved his way to it in his previous collections. Another strong moment is the meeting of Eros and Thanatos, the embrace of love and death. And then there are the final things, Slíva's eschatology — farewells, losses, the weight of irretrievability. We walk through the poet's 'dark night', states filled with anxieties and uncertainties: What will happen to us when we are no longer here? What can words bear when we must relinquish them? And what can faith bear when the cold demons of doubt arrive? Baroque conflicts with more darkness than light... and God remains unseen. I know I should believe, but I can't. I can't, but I pray.
