Welcome to Opskurno! The city of Opskurno lives closed off within itself — despite its remarkable architecture, pioneering science, and unusual rituals, no maps or guides mention it. Queen Elizabeth I separated the city from the rest of England, and its independence is subject to a single disturbing condition: it is strictly forbidden to study Opskurno's history... For beneath its charmingly eccentric exterior lies a secret so dark that no one must rediscover it, let alone reuse it. However, secrets tend to come to light. Two curious foreigners arrive in the city: Jonah Oblong, who is to teach modern history at the Opskurno school (mainly nothing local and nothing before 1800), and the sinister billionaire Sir Veronal Lapillus, who is preparing to renovate a dilapidated manor house. Although Lapillus and Oblong are driven by opposing motives, both strive to connect the past and the present and ultimately compete against time and each other... This race could have deadly and apocalyptic consequences — not just for Opskurno.
