Beschreibung
Staff Sergeant Bohuslav Kouba commands the BIOSCOP parachute unit dropped shortly after midnight on Tuesday, April 28, 1942, near the settlement of Požáry in the Křivoklátsko region. Shortly after the landing, the unit splits up, and his two subordinates, Sergeant Aspirant Josef Bublík and Sergeant Jan Hrubý, later die heroic deaths in the Orthodox Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius on Resslova Street in Prague, together with five other parachutists. Kouba travels to the gendarmerie station in Kutná Hora to establish contact with resistance members, but the Gestapo is searching for him before he arrives. Once he finds himself in a hopeless situation, he ends his life by taking a lethal tablet so that he will not reveal his fellow workers or endanger the fifteen gendarmes present and their families. Based on previously unpublished archival materials, the book describes the circumstances immediately before and after the event, particularly the investigation and court proceedings that follow liberation. The book is in Czech.
